Betty Johnson
Betty Byrd Johnson, 76, of Asheville, died Sunday, December 25, 2011.

She was the daughter of the late Ben Byrd and Katherine Byrd Fleming.

After a long career as an employee of Bell Telephone in New York, NY, Ms. Johnson returned to Asheville as the co-owner of Rabbit’s Restaurant and Tourist Court.

Surviving are her brother Benny F. Byrd; sisters Betty Wells, Nellie Byrd Williams; sister-in-law Louella Massey Byrd; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

At the request of Ms. Johnson, there will be no services. Ray and Allen Funeral Service is assisting the Byrd family.

Betty was one of my best friends when we were kids living on South Side Ave., before my family and I moved to Connecticut. I still remember our childhood and friendship. I will always cherish these memories. I saw her twice after we became adults.Betty resst in peace,love Genell
