Multicultural Funeral Services

Cultural, religious and personal preferences make each funeral and cremation service unique. Our experienced staff will help you plan the type of service that you prefer. You may want to consider the following as a way of personalizing the final tribute to your loved one:

  • Family and public viewing

  • Visitation prior to the service or the evening before the service
  • Funeral at your house of worship, our chapel, or at the graveside
  • Personalized funeral program, designed by you and printed by us (with color picture)

Cremation Choices

Disposition of the body by cremation has been a tradition chosen by many cultures and faiths throughout history. Cremation is increasingly popular among families in the Asheville area because disposition by cremation allows for a streamlined, but personal tribute, flexible schedule, and can be less expensive than a traditional funeral and burial service. Following are examples of cremation options from which you may choose:

1. Simplicity Service

     A. Cremation without viewing and no memorial service-$1255

        Includes service of funeral director and staff, transfer of body from place of death, refrigeration,             cremation, completion of documents, (1) certified death certificate and return of cremains to next-of-kin. 

     B. Cremation without viewing and a memorial service-$1855
      Includes all of the items in 1A, plus memorial service, memorial book, service programs and pictorial DVD.

2. Dignity Service                                                                                   

     A. Cremation with viewing and no memorial service-$2420

   Service of funeral director and staff, transfer of body, refrigeration, standard preparation of body, rental      casket, private family viewing only, cremation;completion of documents and return of cremains to next-of-kin.

    B.  Cremation with viewing and a memorial service-$3035

                Includes all of the items in 2A, plus memorial service, memorial book, and service programs.

3. Commemorative Service-$5270

               Includes service of funeral director and staff, transfer of body, embalming, standard preparation of body, family and public viewing, chapel service, memorial book, service programs and cremation. Casket to be selected.

Other items and services may be included with the Dignity and Commemorative options.

 

Green Burial Services

Today, more and more socially conscience people are choosing a green burial because it is kind to the environment and helps preserve the natural resources and landscape, which is a habitat for plants, animals and birds. This method of disposition is the oldest and most natural form of interment. Green Burial includes several components designed to lessen the impact of burial on our natural resources:

  • No embalming or use of formaldehyde based chemicals
  • Hardwood caskets with organic materials - no metal components
  • Ground burial without concrete or metal burial vaults

Home Service

An old tradition which is gaining new popularity is returning the body to the residence. This service provides the family the opportunity for a very personal tribute. Relatives and friends can share special memories and include a favorite meal in the comfort of their home. Returning the body to the home can easily include tributes by elderly or disabled relatives and all of the "little ones" (grandchildren, great-grandchildren).

Celebration Service

The experienced and caring staff of Ray & Allen provides you with personal service before, during and after the death of your loved one.  A special part of our aftercare program is the annual Candlelight Service.  The program includes the lighting of a candle by a family member to acknowledge the life of their loved one and the sharing of fond memories with those in attendance. Coming together with others who have experienced the loss of someone important to them,  provides support and an opportunity for the expression of grief. This is a very special, personal, and moving experience for our families in an atmosphere of comfort.

Cemeteries

A peaceful setting and a well maintained memorial garden or cemetery are what most families desire when they come to spend time with a deceased loved one.

Ray & Allen Funeral Service is proud to have Sunset Cemetery under its ownership and management. Sunset Cemetery is located five minutes south of historic Biltmore Village on Sweeten Creek Road. The cemetery is on eight acres of beautiful land covered with trees and green grass.  Sunset Cemetery has a regular maintenance schedule and an attendant on duty which enables families to easily find the location of their loved one.

The cost of a individual grave is $700. Opening and closing of a grave Monday-Friday- $700.

Preplanning

No one likes to think about death or even plan for it. But there are good reasons and definite advantages to do so. By preplanning for a funeral or memorial service, you:

  • Make your wishes known
  • Make plans during a time free of anxiety and stress
  • Control the cost of the service
  • Pay for the plan now and avoid certain future price increases

There are several options to pay for preneed plans:

  • Cash
  • Existing or new life insurance
  • Monthly payments
  • A combination of the above

Investors Heritage Life Insurance Company, Frankfort, KY, provides the funding for the insurance plans and First Citizens Bank, Raleigh, NC serves as the depository for cash payments.
