Willie Catherine Smith
Willie Catherine Smith, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2011.
She was a native of Asheville and a daughter of the late Willie Mae Webster. Willie was a nursery school teacher with the Lonnie D. Burton Opportunity Center. She was a former member of Hill St. Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian McKinney.
Surviving family to cherish her memory include daughters, Yvette Jives (Lonnie Lee) and Cassandra Smith of Asheville; sons, Gregory Smith (Doreen) of Asheville, Kevin Smith of Fountain, SC, Mychal Smith (Pamela) of Folsom, Pa. and Darrin Smith of Rutherford, NC; sisters, Laverne Lordman of Asheville and Barbara Jackson of Bowling Green, Ky.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, in the chapel of Ray & Allen Funeral Service with Willie Green, III officiating. Family and public viewing will be from 12 to 1 p.m. The family will receive friends Sunday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the home of Cassandra Smith, 2 D Pisgah View Apts.
